The scientific direction of the chair - study the new long-term medicinal plants of the flora of Uzbekistan, introduction them in medicinal practice and creation of the effective home remedies on their base. In recent years more than 30 new medicinal plants have been recommended for use in scientific medicine.
At present 10 teachers are working at the chair, among them there are 5 doctors of pharmaceutical sciences, professors.
The members of the chair have been published a textbook on pharmacognozy which was the first in the republican competition for the best textbook among the medical higher schools as well as a manual for practical work and more than 30 educational-methodic manuals for the students. The new pedagogic and information technologies are widely introduced in the training process.
In 2005-2006 academic year the chair began training the personnel on "Pharmaceutical analysis and pharmacognozy" magistracy specialty.
In 2004-2006 1 doctoral dissertation has been defended at the chair and 4 theses for a candidate of pharmaceutical degree have been prepared. More than 70 scientific works and 3 monographs have been published.
