The Chair of Biotechnology

The students are taught the following general professional and special disciplines at the chair: the general chemical technology, chemical processes energy technology, energy technology, chemistry and technology of phytopreparations, the principles of biotechnology, processes and apparatus of chemical and pharmaceutical production, the designing and equipment of manufacture.

At present more than 50 scientific articles, 22 educational-methodical instructions, 6 methodical instructions on practical training have been published. 4 professors and 4 assistant professors are working at the chair.

The staff of the chair is carrying out the scientific activity on working out the technologies of obtaining the biologically active substances and their medicinal forms on the basis of natural raw materials. The chair research workers regularly take part in various republican and international conferences reporting the obtained data. Two candidate dissertations have been prepared and successfully defended at the chair.

The biotechnology chair staff carries out its educational and scientific activity in collaboration with the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek, the Tashkent Chemical-technological institute, the plant substances chemistry institute of the Republic of Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences named after Academician S.Yunusov, the institute of chemical and pharmaceutical investigations named after A.Sultonov and "Uzhimfarm" joint-stock company.

There is an Educational-production centre at the chair which is equipped with the apparatus for isolating essential oils and biologically active substances. It is also a scientific-educational-production centre for students, post-graduate students, candidates for a doctor's degree and etc.
