Harmonious developed generation is the future of the country
The library fund numbers 445060 printed units in the Uzbek, Russian and foreign languages. Among the books there are rare editions on pharmacy published in XYIII-XIX centuries; in addition to the scientific and educational literature in the library funds there are belles-lettres, periodicals, these, synopses of theses, diploma theses as well as CD-disks, videocassettes (electron versions of scientific and educational literature).
Every year the library subscribes to about 100 names of periodicals. They are mainly local journals and CIS countries journals. The fund of scientific periodicals which was formed in 1937 is of great interest; it numbers 129676 names of the periodical press. In addition in the library there are journals as well as scientific and educational literature on pharmacy in English and German of the last 15 years which were brought by the Institute researches from scientific trips.
The inquiry-searching service of the library is represented by the system of catalogues and card files (alphabetical, systematic, general, topographic). The "Medicinal Plants" card file is unique in its content.
About 2 thousand readers of the Institute as well as the readers of the related higher educational institutions and scientists from Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Tadjikistan and other adjacent states use the library service.
In the library there are two reading halls for students, reading hall for professors and teachers, besides there are reading halls in the institute hostel and in the "Spirituality and Enlightenment" centre. The students may use Internet service in specially equipped computer classroom.
The acquisition is carried out according to the institute professional direction, namely on pharmacy, agrobiology, agroecology, drugs standardization and quality, cosmetic pharmacy. The institute library takes an active part in the meetings, seminars, conferences and other actions which are held in the institute, organizes the exhibitions of the literature. Since 2000 in the library the work on the library and informative processes automation has been carrying out; there are electron versions of textbooks, lectures texts as well as video-lectures, CD-disks, databases of "EBSKO" company etc.
